The primatologists at MEHRI are conducting research into mother-infant
caregiver practices. An analysis of the massive amounts of film
and ethnographic data collected by the Jane Goodall Institute is being undertaken, and Maria Botero is currently collecting data in the field at Gombe National Park in Tanzania. Striking
evidence is emerging which suggest that as with humans, non-human
primate caregiver practices which foster healthy functional emotional
growth lead to healthy social and cognitive development.
